How High-Powered Laser Technology is Changing Pain Management

Length:
64:47
Original Webinar Date:

In 2021, our understanding of pain perception changed with the discovery of Transient Receptor Potential Vanilloid 1 receptors, also known as TRPV1 receptors. Thanks to the Nobel Peace Prize-winning work of David Julius and Ardem Patapoutian, we now know that these receptors are crucial in the body's pain (nociceptive) system, responding to harmful stimuli by allowing cations to flow in, depolarizing the neuron and sending pain signals and more.

And as science evolves, so does technology. High-powered laser therapy has often been used for managing chronic pain, and scientific breakthroughs in understanding this condition have led to innovative developments in available technology.

In this webinar, Dr. Christopher Carraway, Douglas Johnson, and Dr. Deb Torraca will explore how science-driven innovation has shaped high-powered therapeutic lasers to deliver more effective photobiomodulation. Attendees will learn how new technology developments improve chronic pain outcomes in both human and veterinary disciplines.

Key Learning Objectives:

- How scientific research informs the design and performance of new high-powered therapeutic lasers

- The role of controlled heat in enhancing photobiomodulation outcomes

- Core features of high-powered laser technology to optimize for superior pain relief

- Real-world clinical applications and future advancements in chronic pain management
