Vertigo, the sensation that you or your surroundings are spinning, can be caused by issues in the inner ear or brain, or both. It can manifest in different ways, from brief episodes of dizziness to longer-lasting sensations of imbalance and disorientation and advance even further to Meniere’s disease (1). Vertigo affects a significant portion of the adult population. In large population-based studies, dizziness (including vertigo) affects about 15% to over 20% of adults yearly, according to ScienceDirect.com. Vertigo is also more common in women than in men and its prevalence increases with age (2).
In this webinar, Dr. Christopher Carraway will discuss some of the causes of vertigo and loss of balance, from minor otoliths (“rocks” in the patient’s ear) to more serious causes such as stroke. Dr. Carraway will take a deep dive into various treatments including photobiomodulation, exercises, nutritional supplements, and how a multifaceted approach can yield the best outcomes for patients.
Key Talking Points:
- Review the science and physiology behind vertigo and loss of balance
- How to integrate photobiomodulation into a multimodal approach to treat vertigo
- Creating custom laser therapy protocols for vertigo patients and review real-world case examples from Dr. Carraway’s practice
